Description

Smoky, crispy, and reminiscent of bacon but without all of the sadness, you will love this as the “B” in a vegan “BLT,” in a tofu scramble, a wrap, in a breakfast taco, crumbled on top of a salad, or on the side of your vegan pancakes.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 5 oz. of Shitake mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup of Bragg Liquid Aminos or coconut aminos
  • 1 teaspoon of liquid smoke
  • 1 tablespoon of smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon of maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
  3. Whisk all ingredients except mushrooms in a bowl.
  4. Mix the mushrooms into the marinade and coat thoroughly
  5. Place the mushrooms onto the baking sheet. Try not to have any pieces touching
  6. Bake for about 20 minutes until they start to crisp a little
  7. Let cool for a minute
